Doug Harris, traditional name - tulxwelum, a member of the Stz’uminus First Nation (mid-Vancouver Island) is Coast Salish, and a Hulquminum language learner. Born in Ladysmith and raised on the Stz’uminus First Nation, thuq’min traditional territory. He has over 20 years working in the education profession. Eight of those years working for the Nanaimo & Ladysmith school district and the other twelve years working within Stz’uminus education department. Doug has taught Hulquminum language to students K – 12. He has volunteered many years in his community as youth soccer coach. Doug – tulxwelum, is honoured to be working with an amazing team at FNHIC and engaging with First Nations throughout BC to improve Housing & Infrastructure. Doug enjoy's his daily hikes, paddleboarding, and attending his kids’ soccer games & music gigs.
