Supporting projects that help keep Indigenous families together.

For far too long the Canadian government has taken away Indigenous children. This has resulted in broken families, lost cultural practices and intergenerational trauma. The problems that stem from Indigenous children being taken away from their families are far reaching. At FNHIC, one of our key program areas is working to keep Indigenous children with their families and out of government care. Part of that is supporting projects like Harmony House.

A Message from our Executive Director, Michael Sadler, on the importance of keeping moms and kids together

We are investing in projects that keep kids out of care. The benefits of keeping kids at home with their families are far reaching - from retaining cultural practices, reducing addictions, reducing incarceration rates, increasing employment, and improving health and mental health. This is a key area that we are focusing on and we need partners to embark on this important work with us.
