Michele Tung was born on the lands of the Kalapuya tribe in Oregon.  She brings a blend of technical modular housing expertise, market knowledge, and a commitment to sustainable, community-focused housing solutions in her work with HIC.  She has worked for over 20 years in both public and private sectors in manufacturing, education, and housing.

Michele previously worked at Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), Simon Fraser University (SFU), and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).  She then went on to establish two companies, one in cultural and language education for elementary school children, and another in manufacturing and distribution of construction materials and commercial electronics.

Michele currently sits on the Government Affairs Committee of the Modular Building Institute (MBI) and currently serves as the CEO of homeD Modular, which is a company established in reaction to the desperate need for affordable, quality, high-performance, sustainable, housing solutions designed for urban, rural and remote communities.

She is a strong advocate against social and racial injustice, which has resulted in the provincial change of legislation related to discriminatory colonial language and values on land titles in BC.  Her work in First Nations housing infrastructure is centred on community-based designs, respecting cultural values and needs.  She is humbled by individuals from the community who have taken her under their wing to teach her Indigenous wisdom and knowledge.

Michele completed her undergraduate in Economics at Simon Fraser University and her Master of Business Administration at Simon Fraser University.

You can find Michele playing on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish Nations, which include the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, with her husband, two children, two dogs, and two cats.
